Today’s Stock Market

On Friday there was a broad-based rally in US equity markets breaking a three-day losing streak. There was some optimism coming out of the weekend helping futures to extend that rally. Goldman Sachs upgraded their short-term view of US equities to overweight, a couple of M&A transaction including the largest LBO in history, and the Jackson Dart Era starting with a win seemed to drive some of the positive vibes. There continues to be some focus on the potential for a government shutdown though markets don’t seem overly concerned. President Trump is scheduled to meet with Congressional leaders this afternoon. Equities have pulled back from the opening highs and are hovering around unchanged. Tech continues to outperform though the questions around AI spending seem to be growing louder as companies are starting to make more use of credit financing.
