Yesterday’s CPI report and 10yr Treasury auction were better-than-expected, and that trend has continued today with the PPI and 30yr auction. That’s helped equities trade modestly higher and near their best levels currently, though the Russell 2000 is lagging after a recent run of outperformance. Underneath the hood seven sectors are higher. Tech is leading (Oracle up big on earnings and driving the sector higher) along with Utilities, with particular strength from the nuclear names following an agreement between South Korea and Oklo. Comm Service is lagging as Alphabet and Meta trade slightly lower while telecom, media and entertainment names are also down. Treasury yields have fallen from recent highs and continued their move lower after today’s data, down 4-8bp across the curve. Meanwhile the Dollar continues to weaken as Treasuries rally. The US Dollar Index is down almost 1% today and is back to its lows in mid-April, below 98. This is particularly interesting given the heightened geopolitical hotspots which typically brings in a safe-haven bid.
