The first half of the year is nearly in the books. If nothing else, you can’t say it was boring, as the new administration is quickly making an impact on the global scene. From an equity market perspective, it was a tale of two halves. The policy induced volatility led to a sharp decline after inauguration day into the end of Q1, but markets have rebounded during the second quarter as the administration paused tariffs and entered into negotiations. Despite the second fastest 20% decline from an all-time high, behind only the pandemic, the S&P 500 is ending the first half of the year around a new all-time high up ~5% YTD.
