For the sixth consecutive meeting the FOMC left the Fed Funds Target rate at 5.25% - 5.5%. Coming into the meeting there was some concern that there could be a hawkish shift in the Statement but that did not occur. The language related to inflation acknowledged the recent data saying, “In recent months, there has been a lack of further progress toward the Committee's 2 percent inflation objective.” The easing bias remained within the statement as the following line was not removed, “The Committee does not expect it will be appropriate to reduce the target range until it has gained greater confidence that inflation is moving sustainably toward 2 percent.”

NYSE: Short-dated equity options survey results
When Wednesday expirations were added to five ETFs1 in November 2023, short-dated trading has gained market share in all five of them. The industry has been discussing the reasons behind the short-dated trading phenomenon and debating whether additional expirations should be considered for single stocks.
