At Televisa, Sustainability Is Built-In

At Televisa, sustainability is a top priority across the entire organization. As a member of the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, Dow Jones Sustainability MILA Pacific Alliance Index, Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index, and the Sustainability Index of the Mexican Stock Exchange, the company is committed to decreasing its environmental footprint and making an impact in its local communities.

Televisa has developed and implemented energy efficiency programs, renewable energy projects, as well as other initiatives to reduce its water consumption and waste generation. For example, the Company's IZZI telecom business has chosen a waste management supplier based on environmental criteria for collecting and recycling electronic waste, generating measurable environmental savings, including 5,901 liters of oil, 24,227 kg of CO2, 590,130 KW/h, and 1,779 m3 of water.

Televisa is also committed to improving the local communities in which it operates. In 2018, Fundación Televisa helped transform the lives of more than one million children and adults, through education, culture and entrepreneurship programs, as well as initiatives that advanced knowledge and experience in the areas of health, care for the environment, aid after natural disasters and more.

Following several earthquakes in Mexico in September 2017, the Company created a program called ReconstruYAmos México (Rebuilding Mexico) to support projects that helped rebuild the states that suffered the most damage. ReconstruYAmos México created strategic alliances with the Alfredo Harp Helú Foundation, Fomento Social Banamex, BBVA Bancomer Foundation, the Gentera Foundation and the Coca-Cola Foundation, where Fundación Televisa doubled each peso donated. As a result of these partnerships, Televisa contributed to efforts that helped more than 189 thousand people in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Morelos, Puebla, Estado de México, Guerrero and Mexico City. In 2018, the program contributed more than $13.8 million USD to rebuild 1,669 houses, 11 schools, three local markets, 782 kitchens, 11 craft workshops, a mobile hospital and a nursing home.
