The NYSE looks to use the power of our markets to engage the broader NYSE community to create change. This means we’re enthusiastic about the ESG focus of many of our listed companies. Newly listed companies include FIGS (NYSE: FIGS), which highlighted diversity when it went public this year (link to sizzle) under the leadership of female co-founders and co-CEOs, Heather Hasson and Trina Spear. In terms of environmental impact, we saw companies focused on the transition to electric vehicles like ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), Volta (NYSE: VLTA) and Lightning eMotors (NYSE: ZEV) making their public debuts on the NYSE.

Other listings of note included Ginkgo Bioworks (NYSE: DNA) which has a lofty goal -- to program cells to make everything from food to materials to therapeutics. Co-founder and CEO Dr. Jason Kelly share his experience bringing the company public. Toast (NYSE: TOST) is on a mission to enrich the food experience , by empowering over 40,000 restaurants to do what they love, and On Running (NYSE: ONON) began with three friends and one mission, one revolutionary idea that fans call "running on clouds."

During March, we celebrated women’s achievements and highlighted the advancement of women across our community.

Twice daily, notable guests join us on the Bell Podium to mark the opening and closing of the day's trading, and we welcomed Women in ETFs, Bakkt (NYSE:BKKT), The Women’s Business Collaborative, Organon (NYSE:OGN), BNY Mellon (NYSE:BK), The Diversity Woman’s Elite 100, Women in Derivatives, and Citi (NYSE:C) (to name a few) for initiatives tied to Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

We hosted a breakfast for women in finance with guest speakers from across our organization. Hope Jarkowski, NYSE General Counsel, discussed the NYSE’s collaborative work with the SEC. Carolyn Saacke, Chief Operating Officer for NYSE Capital Markets, explained the role we play in providing entrepreneurs and investors with a centralized platform to raise capital and improve opportunities. Lastly, Elizabeth King, ICE’s President, ESG & Chief Regulatory Officer presented focus areas for 2022, including the continued growth of the NYSE Board Advisory Council and the NYSE Sustainability Advisory Council.

Social and digital content across our platforms included NYSE host Judy Shaw with Wendy Wong, Head of Sustainable Investment Partnerships at New York Life Investments, discussing the IQ Engender Equality ETF in Floor Talk, as well as Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of JPMorgan Chase's Asset & Wealth Management, who discussed the importance of elevating women in the workplace on NYSE’s Work This Way franchise.

Finally, the NYSE social team created a #breakthebias series where female visionaries were asked a series of questions, including “what is one thing people can do in the workplace to #breakthebias towards women?” They responded with some powerful statements:

"When we create opportunities for women to grow, be heard and have their deserved place at the decision-making table, we #breakthebias and empower the next generation of leaders now.”
- Judy Marks, Chair & CEO, Otis Worldwide Corporation
“Fearlessly challenge, every time, anti-inclusion and sexist behaviour whenever and wherever you see it. Decide to be personally accountable and be this change we all need.”
- Emma Walmsley, CEO, GSK

Strong leadership was on display throughout the month, as female leaders shared their perspectives and inspired us with their strength of character and clarity of purpose. Together, we can #breakthebias.

News from the NYSE Community

The NYSE supports and recognizes the achievements of our listed companies as they come to market,
but also as they grow their businesses and embrace new opportunities.

Guest column: Why Wellness Matters in the Workplace

It’s no secret that employees expect more from their employers than they did a few years ago--from culture and community, to support for their professional, emotional, and physical growth. Following Corporate Wellness Month in June, the NYSE asked ZipRecruiter (NYSE: ZIP) to speak with our listed community and industry experts about how they are taking a more holistic approach to employee health and wellbeing.

News from GM

Production is now set to begin at Factory ZERO, less than two years after GM (NYSE: GM) announced the investment to fully renovate the facility to build a variety of all-electric trucks and SUVs using the best, most advanced technology in the world to build the highest quality electric vehicles. The NYSE joined GM on the factory floor to ring the Opening Bell remotely in honor of the occasion.

Inside the ICE House

Frank Slootman, Chairman and CEO of Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW), presided over the largest software IPO in the NYSE’s history, but it wasn’t his first rodeo. Snowflake is the third company Frank has taken public, and the lessons that shaped his career are part of his new book Amp It Up: Leading for Hypergrowth by Raising Expectations, Increasing Urgency, and Elevating Intensity.

NextEra Champions of Change

NextEra Engery (NYSE: NEE) is an industry leader in environmental protection and stewardship with clear environmental expectations and actionable guidance for employees. Everyone at NextEra Energy understands that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility and that's why NextEra Energy is working toward a renewable energy future with green hydrogen innovation.
