Peter Amos named ‘World’s best student trader’ after global final at NYSE euronext

Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, London, New York and Paris, May 3rd 2012 – Today Peter Amos, student at the Wharton School (US) won the global edition of the Traders Trophy Worldwide, the search for World’s Best Student Trader. During the Global Final at NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam Peter beat 19 fellow students, winning two years intensive career counseling and training by Oxyor and Sherpazz.

During the one-hour long grand final of the Traders Trophy Worldwide 2012 Peter showed his superiority in stress control, risk management, client handling and profitability. He competed against 19 students who were selected from 13 national competitions which were held in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. This year’s competition featured the winners from universities from among others the United States, France, Netherlands, South-Africa, Russia and China.

The Traders Trophy Worldwide is a competition which provides students with real-time experience as a trader in a simulated dealing room environment. The simulation developed by Oxyor is based on real life data and creates an environment that is almost identical to that of a trading room.

The Traders Trophy is an initiative organized by Financial Games which globally organizes financial competitions. This year it’s worldwide supported by Oxyor, a training institute that focuses on financial training courses and master programs. Since 2008, many national finals have been organized on exchanges worldwide. On NYSE Euronext, national finals were held on its exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, New York and Paris. For the second year in a row, NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam is the host of the global final of the Traders Trophy Worldwide. The Traders Trophy Worldwide is supported by Optiver, Nyenrode, Nedbank Capital, Oxyor and Sherpazz, next to NYSE Euronext.

"We’re proud to be returning to the first exchange in the world for the second global final of the Traders Trophy Worldwide. Every year the number of participants increases and we are proud of the achievements of the finalists,” said Menno Haesen, Managing Director of the Traders Trophy.

“NYSE Euronext is proud to host and support the global final of the Traders Trophy for the second year in a row,” said Dominique Cerutti, President and Deputy CEO of NYSE Euronext. “This competition is a unique opportunity for young financial talent to better understand the trading profession and to introduce them to a future career in finance.
