Based on information received from members and member organizations, short interest increased to 14,196,401,372 shares from 14,019,075,490 (revised) shares on July 31, 2009. This was an increase of 177,325,882 shares.
The short interest on August 14 was equal to 3.71 percent of the total shares outstanding.
The short interest in warrants as of August 14 amounted to 67,122 warrants, compared to 81,088 warrants the previous period.
