Safeco Corporation Marks the 9th Transfer from Nasdaq to the NYSE Group, Inc. in 2006
  • 17th transfer in 2006 bringing the total market cap of all transfers to $41.9 billion year-to-date

NEW YORK , Nov. 30, 2006 – Today, the NYSE Group, Inc. (NYSE:  NYX), listed its ninth transfer from Nasdaq year-to-date when Safeco Corporation, an insurance product provider, joined the world’s largest equities market. 

Safeco Corporation (NYSE:  SAF ) marks the 17th transfer to NYSE Group, Inc. markets year-to-date.  With a market capitalization of $7 billion, Safeco Corporation brings the total market cap of transfers to $41.9 billion this year.

So far in 2006, the NYSE Group, Inc. has listed nine transfers from Nasdaq, including one transfer from Nasdaq to NYSE ArcaSM,and eight transfers from Amex, also including one transfer from Amex to NYSE ArcaSM

Since 2000, 144 companies have transferred from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange.

Recent transfers from Nasdaq to the NYSE in 2006 include Helix Energy Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:  HLX).  The company, with a market capitalization over $3.5 billion joined the NYSE in July.  Earlier this year, CRH public limited company (NYSE:  CRH ), headquartered in Ireland , with a market cap of over $18 billion, became the NYSE’s largest European transfer in March.
