NYSE Group, Inc. Issues First Combined Report on Monthly Transaction Volume
--for March 31, 2006--

New York, April 7, 2006 – NYSE Group, Inc. (NYSE: NYX) today reported March 2006 transaction volume in all securities traded by NYSE Group.  This report represents the first NYSE Group volume release issued on a combined basis for NYSE and NYSE Arca.  This data, which reflects the combined full month statistics for NYSE and NYSE Arca, will be issued on a monthly basis moving forward.

NYSE Group has revised the methodology used to report volume in order to maintain consistency across markets.   In addition to reporting matched volume, which represents trades that are executed by NYSE Group, the transaction volume data includes handled volume for trades routed to other markets for execution.  Trades routed within the NYSE Group for execution are reported as matched volume (single counted).  Additionally, volumes matched in any of NYSE’s Crossing Sessions are included in all calculations.

Adjusted historical monthly volume data for NYSE Group, starting in January 2004, is available at: nyse.com/monthlyvolume.
