NYSE Composite Index Sets New Closing High

NEW YORK, August 3, 2005 –The New York Stock Exchange Index® (NYA) closed at a new high of 7566.54. The previous closing high for the NYSE was 7556.59 on August 2, 2005.

Background:
Reintroduced in 2003 with a new methodology and recalculated base value of 5,000, the NYA outperformed all major indices in 2004.

The NYA is designed to measure the performance of all common stocks, ADRs, REITs and tracking stocks listed on the NYSE.
