NYSE honored to welcome Vietnamese Prime Minister, H.E. Phan Van KHAI
NEW YORK, June 23, 2005 – The New York Stock Exchange today opened its doors to the Vietnamese delegation of government officials led by Prime Minister Phan Van KHAI. While in the U.S., the Vietnamese delegation met with President George W. Bush as well as other U.S. political and business leaders earlier in the week.

NYSE CEO John A. Thain offered the following remarks during a breakfast prior to the ringing of the Opening Bell by Prime Minister KHAI today:

“Mr. Prime Minister, we are pleased to welcome you and your delegation to the New York Stock Exchange and to the United States of America. I want to congratulate you on the success of your visit – in particular your meeting with our President Bush and his agreement to reciprocate with a visit to Vietnam next year. “

“We are honored that you chose to visit the New York Stock Exchange to open our trading day. I want to congratulate you on the continuing strength and economic growth in your country, and look forward to one day presenting U.S. investors the opportunity to participate in your success through the listing on the NYSE of a Vietnamese company,” Mr. Thain said.

Joining Prime Minister KHAI at the NYSE were Deputy Prime Minister Vu KHOAN and Finance Minister Singh Hung NGUYEN, as well as other ministers and senior government officials.
