| WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (WellCare) provides managed care services to government-sponsored health care programs. WellCare operates in three segments: Medicaid, Medicare Advantage (MA) and Prescription Drug Plan (PDP), which are within its two main business lines: Medicaid and Medicare. Through WellCare's licensed subsidiaries, as of December 31, 2011, it operated its Medicaid health plans in eight states, which are Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, New York and Ohio, and its Medicare Advantage (MA) coordinated care plans (CCPs) in 119 counties across 12 states, which are Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Texas. Effective January 1, 2012, the Company expanded its MA plans to a total of 138 counties. It also operates a Medicare PDP in 49 states and the District of Columbia. As of December 31, 2011, the Company served approximately 2.6 million members. |
