Company Description
Telecom Italia S.p.A. is engaged in fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Italy and the holding company for various businesses, principally telecommunications. The main categories of accesses are fixed telephony accesses, Internet and data accesses, Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), mobile accesses (includes mobile telephony), unbundled local loop, wholesale asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) and others. The Company operates through four business units: Domestic, Brazil, Media and Olivetti. On October 13, 2010, the Company acquired control of Sofora group with its acquisition of an 8% stake in Sofora Telecomunicatiociones S.A (Sofora). On October 5, 2010, the Company disposed of the BBNed group. In September 2010, the Company announced the sale of 70% interest in Elettra TLC SpA to the France Telecom SA group.
