| Southwestern Energy Company is an independent energy company primarily engaged in the exploration for and production of natural gas within the United States. The Company also focuses on creating and capturing additional value through its natural gas gathering and marketing businesses, which it refers to as its Midstream Services. During the year ended December 31, 2007, the Company operated principally in three segments: Exploration and Production (E&P), Midstream Services and Natural Gas Distribution. In July 2008, the Company announced that it had closed the sale of its utility, Arkansas Western Gas Company, to SourceGas, LLC. |
