(Sun Life Financial) is an international financial services organization, offering a range of life and health insurance, savings, investment management, retirement, and pension products and services to both individual and corporate customers. Sun Life Financial manages its operations in five business segments: Sun Life Financial Canada, Sun Life Financial United States, MFS Investment Management, Sun Life Financial Asia and Corporate. On August 31, 2007, it entered into an agreement to sell the United States subsidiaries that comprised the Independent Financial Marketing Group business to LPL Holdings, Inc. The sale closed on November 7, 2007. Sun Life Financial completed its acquisition of Genworth Financial, Inc.'s U.S. Employee Benefits Group on May 31, 2007. In December 2008, Sun Life Financial completed the sale of its 37% interest in CI Financial Income Fund to Scotiabank. |
