(Nortel) was organized by a consortium of Argentina and international investors to acquire a controlling interest in the common stock of Telecom Argentina STET-France Telecom S.A. (Telecom Argentina and together with its subsidiaries, the Telecom Group). Telecom Argentina's license was exclusive to provide telephone services in the northern region of Argentina. The Telecom Group provides fixed-line public telecommunication services, international long-distance service, data transmission and Internet services in Argentina. Telecom conducts its business through five entities, which represent five operating segments. Its reportable segments, include voice, data and Internet, and wireless. Its subsidiaries include Telecom Argentina USA Inc, Micro Sistemas Sociedad Anonima, Cubecorp Argentina S.A., Telecom Personal S.A. and Nucleo S.A. On January 1, 2009, Telecom incorporated by merger Cubecorp Argentina S.A, an infrastructure datacenter. |
