| Matador Resources Company is an energy company engaged in the exploration, development, production and acquisition of oil and natural gas resources in the United States, with a particular focus on oil and natural gas shale plays and other unconventional resource plays. Its operations are located primarily in the Eagle Ford shale play in south Texas and the Haynesville shale play in northwest Louisiana and east Texas. As of August 2011, its principal areas of interest consist of the Eagle Ford shale play in south Texas, the Haynesville shale play, including the Middle Bossier shale play, as well as the Cotton Valley and Hosston (Travis Peak) plays in northwest Louisiana and east Texas, the Meade Peak shale play in southwest Wyoming and the adjacent areas of Utah and Idaho and southeast New Mexico and west Texas, including the Delaware and Midland Basins. In April 2013, it announced the acquisition of approximately 9,617 gross and 7,446 net acres in Lea and Eddy Counties, New Mexico. |
