| DTE Energy Company is an energy company. The Company's utility operations consist primarily of The Detroit Edison Company (Detroit Edison), which is a direct wholly owned subsidiary of DTE Energy Company and Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon), which is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of DTE Energy. It also has four non-utility segments that are engaged in a range of energy related businesses. Detroit Edison is engaged in the generation, purchase, distribution and sale of electricity to approximately 2.2 million customers in southeastern Michigan. MichCon is engaged in the purchase, storage, transmission, distribution and sale of natural gas to approximately 1.3 million customers throughout Michigan. Its four non-utility segments are involved in coal transportation and marketing, gas pipelines processing and storage; unconventional gas project development and production; power and industrial projects, and energy marketing and trading operations. |
