Citigroup is a bank holding company. As of March 31, 2008, Citigroup was organized into four major segments: Consumer Banking, Global Cards, Institutional Clients Group and Global Wealth Management. In March 2008, Citigroup reorganized its consumer group into two global businesses: Consumer Banking and Global Cards. In May 2008, the Company has reorganized its equity and debt business in Japan. Nikko Citigroup Ltd, the Company's Japan investment banking unit, merged its equity and debt underwriting teams into one. In July 2008, Discover Financial Services acquired Diners Club International from Citigroup. In August 2008, GE Capital Company announced the completion of its acquisition of CitiCapital. In October 2008, Tata Consultancy Services Limited bought Citigroup's Indian business processing outsourcing unit. |
