NYSE Specialist Application Programming InterfaceSM(API) An external application programming interface that will enable specialists to use proprietary algorithms to quote or trade on behalf of their dealer accounts.  The Specialist API will allow specialists to continue in their role as value and liquidity providers in the Hybrid Market, while enhancing their ability to comply more readily with their market-making responsibilities.
