Using its own processes and techniques, United Microelectronics make chips to the design specifications of its many customers. The Company maintains a diversified customer base across industries, including communication, consumer electronics, computer and memory, while continuing to focus on manufacturing for applications, including networking, telecommunications, Internet, multimedia, personal computers (PCs) and graphics. It sells and markets mainly wafers, which in turn are used in a number of different applications by its customers. The Company also offers its customers services by providing subcontracted assembly and test services.
