The Company is a producer of coated fine paper used in books, brochures, magazines, catalogues and many other print applications. It is also the producer of chemical cellulose, used primarily in the manufacture of viscose fiber, acetated tow, and consumer and pharmaceutical products. In addition, the Company produces newsprint, uncoated graphic and business papers, packaging papers, a range of coated speciality papers and a range of paper grade pulp. The Company organized into two operating segments: Sappi Fine Paper and Sappi Forest Products. Sappi also operates a trading network, called Sappi Trading, for the international marketing and distribution of chemical cellulose and market pulp worldwide and of its other products in areas outside the core operating regions of North America, Europe and southern Africa. On December 31, 2008, it acquired M-real Corporation.
