The September Concert Foundation sponsors its eighth annual celebration of peace and shared humanity on 9/11/2009. September Concert Founder and Chairman Haruko Smith, who saw an opportunity to transform the pain and anguish of September 11, 2001, into a day of music to celebrate humanity, rings The Opening BellSM, joined by NYSE Euronext CEO Duncan Niederauer.

About The September Concert:
What began as a grassroots effort in New York City on September 11th in 2002 is now a global event in support of peace through music. In 2008, we organized 222 concerts throughout the world with close to 10,000 performers. 46 US cities from coast to coast joined us, including Oakland, Santa Barbara, Forth Worth, Seattle, and Washington D.C. Globally, 33 cities in countries ranging from Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, India, Great Britain, Ghana, Germany, Haiti and the Czech Republic participated.
