Jan Zegering Hadders is the former CEO of ING Nederland, and currently is also a member of the supervisory boards of GrontMij NV, E-concern NV and GET Holding. He was accompanied by Menno de Jong, director of Levi9 Global Sourcing.
According to Mr Zegering Hadders, the business community, with a tremendous amount of support from the government, is doing its utmost to restore trust in the economic future of the country and its businesses, and to create a sense of cautious optimism that it hopes will be reflected in the share indices. This will inevitably necessitate a re-examination of the existing order and of the kind of prosperity created by the over-extension of credit. The current crisis is partly the result of the process of adjusting to the rapid globalisation of the economy and of the worldwide markets created by this process, and is also related to the speed with which the markets now receive and react to electronic information.
