St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® visits the NYSE. In honor of the occasion, Richard Shadyac, Jr., Chairman, ALSAC Board of Directors, rings The Closing Bell® to celebrate the 19th Annual "Taste of New York" event, accompanied by 11-year old Jake Marshall and 12-year old Daniel Biljanoski who are both patients at the hospital. |
"Taste of New York"
The "Taste of New York" event, which takes place on November 13, has raised more than $27 million for the children of St. Jude and has funded the "Wall Street Floor" in the new state-of-the-art Chili’s Care Center. The "Wall Street Floor" is home to researchers with St. Jude’s world-renown Infectious Diseases Department and to the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Studies on the Ecology of Influenza Viruses in Lower Animals and Birds. This is one of only five WHO collaborating centers that focuses on the transmission of animal viruses to humans.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
