United States Armed Forces visit the NYSE to celebrate National POW/MIA Recognition Day. In honor of the occasion, Colonel David F. Ellis, Principal Director, Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office, rings The Closing Bell®.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day
Military and civilian members of the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel team carry out a joint mission, which oversees worldwide efforts aimed at achieving the fullest possible accounting for missing, captured or killed American military members and designated civilians. Dating back to WWII, there are more than 88,000 unaccounted servicemembers. The men and women working the POW/MIA cases are in constant contact with the families to provide updates on search and recovery missions.
