The company is an international provider of marine drybulk transportation services, transporting bulk cargoes, particularly grain, iron ore and coal, along worldwide shipping routes for some of the world’s largest users of marine drybulk transportation services. The company’s fleet includes 20 vessels; the operational fleet is comprised of 11 drybulk vessels, all built post 2003; 9 vessels are under construction be delivered at various times between the second half of 2008 through 2010. Safe Bulkers follows a prudent fleet deployment strategy with a high degree of long term charter coverage. The Hajioannou family, which has a significant shareholding in the company, has a long and prominent track record in the shipping industry.
