Care Investment Trust Inc. (Care) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) formed principally to invest in healthcare-related commercial mortgage debt and real estate. The Company invests in healthcare real estate assets, such as medical office buildings and senior housing facilities (independent and assisted living, and continuing care facilities). It also provides financing to companies operating a range of healthcare-related facilities, including medical office buildings, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, outpatient centers, surgery centers, senior housing, laboratories and other healthcare facilities. The Company provides mortgage financing secured by these healthcare facilities, including first lien mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, subordinate interest in whole loans (B Notes) and construction loans. Care is externally managed and advised by CIT Healthcare LLC (Manager), a wholly owned subsidiary of CIT Group Inc.
