The Meridian Resource Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas company that explores for, acquires and develops oil and natural gas properties utilizing three-dimensional (3-D) seismic technology. Its operations are focused on the onshore oil and gas regions in south Louisiana, the Texas Gulf Coast and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. As of December 31, 2006, it had proved reserves of 95 billion cubic feet. Seventy percent of Meridian's proved reserves were natural gas and approximately 72% were proved developed. It owns interests in 24 fields and 121 wells, and operates approximately 82% of its total production. It has interests in leases and options to lease acreage in approximately 329,000 gross acres in Louisiana, Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, including approximately 100,000 net acres located in unconventional gas regions. On September 5, 2006, the Company purchased all of Vintage Petroleum's offshore Texas assets, including both producing and exploration properties.
