(BMC Software) is an independent software vendor. The Company, through its Business Service Management (BSM), provides software solutions that enable companies to manage their information technology (IT) infrastructure from a business perspective. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007, the Company operated in two software business segments: Enterprise Service Management (ESM) and Mainframe Service Management (MSM) segments. ESM segment consists of the Company's non-mainframe solutions. Its core BSM products, including its remedy service management products, identity management and transaction management products are included in this segment. In June 2007, it acquired ProactiveNet, Inc. In July 2007, the Company acquired RealOps. In October 2007, BMC Software acquired privately held Emprisa Networks. On April 18, 2008, BMC Software's wholly owned subsidiary, Bengal Acquisition Corporation, had acquired approximately a 96.7% interest in BladeLogic, Inc.
