Universal American Corp. 
Universal American Corp. (Universal American), incorporated on August 31, 1981, is a specialty health and life insurance holding company, with an emphasis on providing an array of health insurance and managed care products and services. It operates in five business segments, Senior Managed Care - Medicare Advantage, Senior Market Health Insurance, Specialty health insurance, Life Insurance and Annuity, and Senior Administrative Services. Its principal health insurance products for the senior market are Medicare Advantage, insured stand-alone prescription drug benefit plans pursuant to Medicare Part D (Part D) and Medicare supplement. The Company also provides administrative services for senior market insurance and non-insurance programs to both affiliated and unaffiliated insurance companies. In addition, Universal American sells specialty health insurance to self-employed individuals in the United States and Canada, as well as life insurance and fixed annuities. In September 2007, Universal American completed the acquisition of MemberHealth, Inc., a privately held pharmacy.
