FedEx Corporation (NYSE-Listed FDX) celebrates ORBIS International’s 25th Anniversary and its continued work of saving sight worldwide. In honor of the occasion, FedEx Corporation Senior Vice President of Air Operations James R. Parker and His Excellency Girma Wolde-Giorgis, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, ring The Opening BellSM.

For more than 20 years, FedEx Corporation has played an integral role in helping ORBIS realize its vision of a world in which no one is needlessly blind.  FedEx is ORBIS’s first global sponsor and together they operate the “Delivering Sight Worldwide” initiative.  Through this initiative, FedEx provides financial, logistical and operational support for ORBIS and its Flying Eye  Hospital , donating critically needed goods and services such as aircraft maintenance, volunteer support, and express delivery of medical supplies.

ORBIS International
ORBIS International has made a significant impact on elevating the quality and accessibility of basic eye care in 85 countries.  Ethiopia , represented by President Girma Wolde-Giorgis at The Opening Bell ceremony, is one such country. Last year alone, more than 425,000 Ethiopians were examined for eye diseases and one million received medical treatment or surgery, while essential training was provided to more than 6,000 doctors, nurses and health care workers.
