The NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts Gadget The NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts gadget disseminates NYSE and NYSE Amex Cash Market Trader Updates as well as NYSE System Status Alerts and Notices directly to customers’ desktops in near real time (~15 seconds).
NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts provides a faster and more meaningful way to monitor the status of NYSE and NYSE Amex Cash Markets so that customers working at their workstations on multiple projects do not miss critical alerts. By selecting the “always on top” option in the gadget, customers may work in all of their usual applications and still not miss an alert.
NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts informs our customers about important NYSE and NYSE Amex Cash Market trading and market data news and the status of issues impacting our trading systems. This information is made available as soon as it occurs and is published by NYSE Operations personnel directly from the Trading Floor of the Exchange. No other dissemination channel or service provides this information more quickly to our customers. Plus it is free.
In the default view of the gadget, when no new messages are posted, and when all NYSE & NYSE Amex trading and market data systems are functioning normally, the gadget displays a green “all system go” thumbs up and shows the latest available DJIA Index update.* If an issue does occur, the DJIA information is replaced with an alert message that remains until
the user acknowledges it as “read” or until after close of trading on the NYSE. In addition, Important Cash Equities Market Operations news updates, called Trader Updates, are disseminated daily via the gadget.

Installation Instructions NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts are built using Google’s Gadget Framework. To install the gadget, download Google Desktop & the NYSE® Desktop Notices & Alerts to your desktop available above.
Note that some enterprise environments may prevent you from directly installing the gadget. If the security policies in your corporate environment prevent the direct installation of Google Desktop and the gadget, please see the Installation FAQ on the back of this sheet. It contains tips about how to have your Desktop Engineering Team set up the Google gadget using a locked down Google Desktop Enterprise Installation. The enterprise installation is designed to prevent users from installing gadgets that are not approved by your enterprise and limits other features that may cause concern to your administrators and security team such as indexing of files.
