Broker Dealers interested in obtaining NYSE Arca Membership must complete the customary application and agreements in order to trade on NYSE Arca and become an Equity Trading Permit (ETP) holder. An ETP issued by NYSE Arca is required to obtain NYSE Arca Membership.

An institutional investor can gain direct access to NYSE Arca by becoming a sponsored participant. To become a sponsored participant, the institution must enter into a Sponsorship Arrangement with an Equity Trading Permit (ETP) holder. Both ETP holders and sponsored participants must enter into a User Agreement with NYSE Arca.
Individual Investors
Retail participants cannot become direct participants of NYSE Arca. Retail investors may contact their brokerage firm to inquire if that form routes orders to NYSE Arca. A retail investor can gain entry to NYSE Arca only through a direct access brokerage firm.
