Welcome to the newly rebranded NYSE Amex Equities.
Background
NYSE Euronext completed its acquisition of the American Stock Exchange (Amex) on October 1, 2008. Post merger, the Amex equities business was branded NYSE Alternext US . Since then the NYSE Euronext has embarked on a global branding exercise to align the naming protocol for its various assets globally. As part of the rebranding exercise, as well as significant feedback we received from our customers, issuers and member firms, we have made the decision to rebrand NYSE Alternext US as NYSE Amex Equities.
NYSE Amex Equities is positioned to be a premiere market for listing and trading of small and micro cap companies. The following significant changes have been made to transform Amex equities execution business into NYSE Amex Equities, including:
- Evolved market structure leveraging the NYSE next-generation market model
- Migrated trading, connectivity, and routing technologies onto NYSE Group platforms
- Introduced new, competitive maker/ taker pricing model
- Enhanced opening and closing processes similar to NYSE processes
- Introduced greater transparency tools including depth-of-book products similar to NYSE OpenBook Ultra
- Adopted a Trading License model to streamline access to the marketplace
- Streamlined rule set to be similar to NYSE rules
- Streamlined post trade and other operational processes.
