Brokerage firms are not required to maintain records for more than six years. If you cannot get the information from the brokerage firm, or you cannot locate the brokerage firm, you may find that your assets have been escheated to the State where your brokerage account was held, or where you lived at the time. You may find the addresses to other states using the Internet. Some states maintain Abandoned Property offices as well.
