When asked to offer guidance to the next U.S. president, 204 of the 254 CEOs responded. One in four urged the next commander in chief to keep taxes low or reduce them, and an equal percentage advised cutting regulation and compliance costs. One in five urged the next president to support free trade and avoid protectionism. Also mentioned by CEOs: cutting government spending and the deficit and improving education as well as the U.S.’s reputation around the world.
