NYSE-listed companies received top honors at IR Magazine’s 2006 Brazil Awards held June 5 in São Paulo. Banco Itaú Holding Financeira S.A. (ITU), one of Brazil’s largest banks, won the Grand Prix for Best Overall Investor Relations in the large-cap category, along with an award for Best Investment Community Meeting. In addition, the company’s CEO, Roberto Setubal, won for Best Investor Relations by a CEO or CFO.
Petrobras (PBR) was another big winner. The oil and gas exploration and production giant took home three awards: Best Investor Relations Web Site, Best Annual Report, and Best Investor Relations to the Retail Shareholder.
Other NYSE-listed winners were mining company Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (RIO), which won for Best Corporate Social Responsibility, and energy giants Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais–CEMIG (CIG) and CPFL Energia S.A. (CPL). CEMIG’s Luiz Fernando Rolla was recognized as Best Investor Relations Officer, while CPFL Energia’s CEO — Wilson Ferreira Junior — was honored for Best Investor Relations by a CEO or CFO, an award which Banco Itaú’s Roberto Setubal also won.
IR Magazine each year surveys more than 5,000 investors and analysts worldwide to nominate companies that have excelled in investor relations in all areas of the world.
