The Company's operates in four segments, Consumer Packaging, Tubes and Cores/Paper, Packaging Services, and All Other Sonoco. It serves two markets: consumer and industrial. Consumer and industrial sales are split approximately 54% and 46%, respectively. Geographically, approximately 63% of sales are generated in the United States, 19% in Europe, 9% in Canada and 9% in other regions. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the Company acquired Amtex Packaging, Inc., a packaging fulfillment company, and VoidForm International Ltd., a construction tube business. |
