| Louisiana-Pacific Corporation is a manufacturer and distributor of building products. The Company focuses on delivering commodity and specialty building products to retail, wholesale, home building and industrial customers. Its products are used primarily in new home construction, repair and remodeling, and manufactured housing. As of December 31, 2007, the Company operated 24 facilities in the United States and Canada and one facility in Chile. It operates in three segments: Oriented Strand Board (OSB); Siding, and Engineered Wood Products (EWP). In May 2008, the Company completed the initial phase of its purchase of a 75% ownership interest in Masisa OSB Industria e Comercio S.A., which operates OSB assets located in Ponta Grossa, Brazil. The purchase is being made through LP Brasil Participacoes Ltda., a limited liability company, and a subsidiary of Louisiana-Pacific South America S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. |
