| Chiquita Brands International, Inc. (CBII) along with its subsidiaries, is a marketer and distributor of bananas and other fresh produce, sold under the Chiquita and other brand names in 70 countries, and packaged salads sold under the Fresh Express and other brand names primarily in the United States. CBII produces on its own farms approximately 30% of the bananas it markets, and purchases the remainder of the bananas and the lettuce and other fresh produce from third-party suppliers worldwide. The Company operates in three business segments: Bananas, Salads and Healthy Snacks and Other Produce. In May 2010, it sold 51% of its European smoothie business to Danone S.A., and formed a joint venture. |
