It owns or operates 28 pulp and paper facilities and 31 wood products facilities located in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and South Korea. The Company is also a recycler of newspapers and magazines. AbitibiBowater's segments, which correspond to its primary product lines, are newsprint, coated papers, specialty papers, market pulp and wood products. In addition to paper, market pulp and wood products, the Company sells pulpwood, saw timber, wood chips and electricity to customers located in Canada and the United States. On October 29, 2007, Abitibi and Bowater combined in a merger of equals with each becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of AbitibiBowater (the Combination). |
